Originally designed to mimic a hunting lodge fit for royalty, the estate features striking architectural details, including massive stone fireplaces, thick maple hardwood floors, vaulted ceilings, and intricate light fixtures.

Built between 1912 and 1915, the estate was commissioned by Belle Ainsworth Jenkins and her husband Ralph Jenkins. Belle, a prominent Portland financier and daughter of Captain J.C. Ainsworth, sought an escape from city life and chose the property for its secluded location. Ralph Jenkins, a railroad station agent, shared his wife's love for horses, which influenced the estate's design, including stables and a covered riding arena.

The estate's early years were marked by grandeur, with English-style gardens, a decorative pool, a tea house, and a greenhouse gracing the grounds. It also housed a domestic workforce to maintain the property and host lavish gatherings.

The Jenkins Legacy

As the years passed, the Jenkins family continued to shape the estate's history. Ralph Jenkins passed away in 1955, and Belle followed in 1971, leaving the property to a close friend. Financial challenges soon led to its sale, and the Tualatin Hills Park & Recreation District purchased the estate in 1975 with plans for cultural and recreational use.

Today, the Jenkins Estate is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and stands as a cultural and historical gem.
